Things I’m massively grateful for today!

  1. I’m back in Denver, CO!!
  2. Being able to sleep in my own bed with Michael, the down comforter, and the cats in that order.
  3. The toddler who screamed and cried non-stop for the 2 1/2 hour plane trip back to Denver wasn’t the spawn of the Devil although she often sounded like she might be.
  4. I’m not sure who was happier; the cats or me when I walked in the door last night.
  5. Staying at my parent’s house in Chicago worked out pretty well. Didn’t trip the security system and it was nice have a large house to ourselves.
  6. Got my dad’s Internet service set up so I had wifi Internet access while I was there.
  7. My husband’s family were so welcoming and gracious. I genuinely enjoyed being with them.
  8. The memorial service for my mother-in-law gave me some closure on her passing.
  9. The beautiful things Mary’s primary nurse caretaker told me about how much it meant to her to be with Mary. I hear so many stories about what a difficult job it is to care of chronically ill people and hearing someone tell me how much the experience meant to them was incredibly heart-opening.
  10. Had a lot of fun with my brother-in-law’s kids. They’re both really nice, fun kids.
  11. Nothing creates perspective faster than attending a funeral or memorial service. It’s sobering but it sure reminded me of what really counts in life and in my case in what I do through my work.

Things I’m Massively Grateful for Today:

  1. The push I got from George yesterday that “I’m still holding back” it challenged me to really start asking “How can stop holding back and start being fully all of me?” This really made me think and open up more to what is possible?
  2. My continued excellent health. I’ve always been someone not prone to getting ill and I tend not to acknowledge and appreciate what a blessing this is. But I know that when I don’t feel well, even when I have a headache, how debilitating it is.
  3. I’m married to Michael Murdoch. We’ve been together for 20 years, we began dating in 1993 and got married in 1994 and before I met him, I seriously wondered whether I would ever meet a man I wanted to marry and spend my life with. Again it’s easy to forget how blessed I am when it comes to having a life partner.
  4. My son Matt. He’s 16 and it can be easy sometimes to put him down because he’s a teenager and a lot of the time he’s not the easiest person to be with. At the same time, that prickliness is good because he’s finding out who he is and I’d rather he do it now when he’s naturally supposed to be challenging the boundaries than when he’s 51 like me and it seems to take forever for me to get back to finding what those boundaries actually are. I think “Well you’ll get to live your entire adult life as yourself rather than trying hard to be someone else.” He has so many possibilities and things he can create in front of him and I’m grateful and happy that he can be open to all of them.
  5. I got to wake up when I when I was 30. So on the one hand my waking up into who I BE has been a 20-year journey that started 20 years later than it might have. But hell better to have those 20 years in awareness than waiting another 20 years when I’m 70.  It’s never too late for anything but it’s nice to have more time than less.
  6. My two cats Inky and Gus. What can I say about them I haven’t already said? Cats are such subtle beings and it’s such a pleasure to  simply be with them or to look at them. In particular, Inky is like a small panther and I love watching him walk around and do his thing. He’s sleek and graceful. A small work of art.
  7. I’d like to come up with a reason to feel grateful I’m traveling to Chicago this weekend. I imagine I’ll come up with something if I keep open to it. I guess there are always small dramas and interesting things to observe at the airport. It’s like a sociology lab and I usually get some good ideas for marketing articles because I can watch “consumers in the wild” so to speak.
  8. I’ll be seeing Michael’s entire family this weekend and I genuinely like his family a lot. They’re all really smart and interesting and they’re all kind-hearted. The trick will be not spending all day everyday with them which is what Michael is looking forward to doing because he loves just hanging out with everyone.
  9. We’re able to stay at my parents house which is large and comfortable. The giant bonus is my parents are out of town!! Which means we have it to ourselves and I’ll get to watch anything on want to watch on their big screen TV without negotiating with my dad (negotiations usually fail on my end) and eat whatever we want whenever we want without my mom telling us we can’t eat something because she’s saving it or whatever other craziness is going down.
  10. The client I was scheduled to talk with today had to cancel so I get the entire morning to myself and that feels like an insane luxury!

  1. My health – because when we physically don’t feel well it affects everything and I know I tend to take my good health for granted.

  8. Electricity because I’m sitting here under the warm glow of an incandescent light.
  9. My creative mind which seems to be an open channel for all sorts of cool and crazy ideas.
  10. Speaking of crazy shit, I’ll put down Beethoven’s fifth symphony because that’s just what popped into my consciousness.

12/31/12 Mixing Things Up Today!

Last day of 2012 and I’m living dangerously by mixing up gratitude and celebration! Uh oh, what could happen?

Maybe something wonderful!?

Let’s find out.

What I’m Grateful for Today

Inky, gatekeeper and enemy of bad vibes.

Inky, gatekeeper and enemy of bad vibes.

  1. My amazing cat Inky who is currently lying in my lap purring away. I like to say that Inky has special powers and keeps negativity and  bad spirits out of the Murdoch home and out of my business. Plus he’s so handsome! He does tend to have bad breath but the occasional teeth cleaning seems a small price to pay for living with a demi-god. OK and as much face rubbing as we’re willing to give.
  2. Wonderful visit yesterday with my friend and colleague, Heather. Heather is not only a shaman and a powerful spirit but she came up with two really cool ideas for my business! Wow! How does it get any better than this?
  3. The movie Heather shot of my Mojo Money Box Playshop is still on her camera and it looks good! Can’t wait to get it on my computer and watch the whole thing.
  4. 2012 was a difficult and wonderful year. It really feels in many ways like the year of my renaissance. So perhaps a difficult initial 5 months was more than worth the fantastic seven months that followed.
  5. My business coach, George Ira Carroll who set that wonderful seven months into motion.
  6. My husband Michael whose presence makes my house a home and is my wise man.
  7. My son Matt who keeps me on my toes and doesn’t let me get complacent.
  8. Living in Denver where I can see the magnificent Rocky Mountains when I look to the west.
  9. I’m going to be talking later to Cory Michelle which is always a treat!
  10. A meeting I’ll be having later with one of my clients who is always an inspiration to my heart.
